Being right across from Batra Cinema in Mukherjee Nagar means we always have something to look at out the window. We are up on the third floor of A-2, so we get a good view of the crowds and the traffic down below. It’s a lively area, mostly full of students and people grabbing food, so there is a lot of energy around the building. Our office is a bit of a climb, but it’s quieter once you get inside and close the door. We have some desks pushed together and a lot of samples sitting around on every available surface. It gets a bit cluttered, especially when we are preparing for a big export. The walls are covered in notes and charts that only we really understand. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that; usually, whoever is closest to the door just opens it. The air conditioner is a bit old and rattles when it’s on the highest setting, but it keeps the Delhi heat away. We spend a lot of time on the computer and the phone, talking to people in different time zones. Sometimes we stay late when there is a deadline, watching the lights of the cinema flicker across the street. It’s a small team, and we all pitch in with the cleaning and the heavy lifting when needed. It’s just how we run things here.
