Manohar Lal Jai Prakash

Our shop, Manohar Lal Jai Prakash, is located at 223/24 in Katra Peran. This is right in the heart of Tilak Bazar, which is part of the bigger Khari Baoli market area. It’s a very cramped space, like most of the old shops around here. We have goods piled up almost to the ceiling sometimes. You have to be careful walking through the lanes because there’s always someone carrying a heavy load on their back or pushing a trolley. We’ve been in this building for a long time, and the address hasn’t changed once. The walls have seen a lot of history. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find air conditioning or modern office chairs. We mostly sit on cushions or small stools while we work. The phone rings a lot, and there’s always someone stopping by to ask about prices or delivery times. It’s a noisy environment, but you get used to the sound of the market after a few days. We don't really have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. Managing the inventory in such a small space is a bit of a puzzle every morning. We just keep our heads down and get through the orders as they come. It’s hard work, especially in the summer heat, but it’s the life we know in Tilak Bazar. We just keep going until the shutters go down at night.
