Pammi Lal

Pammi Lal is situated right in the middle of the Azadpur Nai Mandi at spot 1220. If you have ever been to the Mandi, you know it is not a place for people who like to sleep in. The day starts way before the sun comes up, with trucks arriving and people shouting to get things moved. We deal with the produce and the crates that come through this part of the market. My clothes usually have a bit of dirt on them by 7 AM, and there is always a cup of tea sitting somewhere on a wooden crate. It is a fast-paced environment where you have to be quick with your math and even quicker with your feet. We spend our time talking to farmers, loaders, and the buyers who come to get the best of what is available that day. The office part is just a small desk with a big ledger where we write everything down by hand. There is no air conditioning or fancy furniture here, just the smell of fresh vegetables and the sound of the crowd. It is a tough way to make a living, but it is honest work that keeps the city fed. We have been part of the Azadpur scene for a long time, and everyone knows where to find Pammi Lal when the morning rush starts.
