Om Sai International

Our shop is number 194 in Palika Bazar, in the Mini Market section near Delhi G P O. If you’ve ever been to Palika Bazar, you know it’s underground and can be a bit like a maze. We are tucked away in one of the corridors. It’s a small space, so we have to use every inch of the walls for storage. There are no windows here, so we rely on the bright tubelights to see what we’re doing. It’s always the same temperature inside, which is a relief when the Delhi summer is hitting hard outside. We get all sorts of people walking past our door. Some are just looking around, and others know exactly what they want. It’s a busy place and there’s always a lot of chatter from the neighboring shops. We’ve been here for a long time and know most of the other shopkeepers. We usually have a quick chat with them while we’re opening up in the morning. Om Sai International isn't a big corporation. It's just us in this small shop handling things one at a time. We don't have a lot of room for a back office, so everything happens right there behind the counter. It can get cramped when we have a lot of stock coming in, but we make it work. It’s a unique place to work and we like the energy. Most days we are quite busy until we close.
