Modern Bag Company

Our place is on the first floor at No. 3599 in Singhara Chowk. This is right in the heart of Sadar Bazar, near the Tanga Stand and Qutub Road. If you’ve ever been to Sadar Bazar, you know how packed and loud it is. There are people everywhere and the lanes are very narrow. To get to our office, you have to go up a flight of steep, narrow stairs that have been there for decades and are a bit worn down. The room is filled with rolls of fabric and stacks of finished bags waiting to be sent out. We have several people working on sewing machines, so the whole place hums with that constant clicking sound all day long. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, but we have some big wall fans that keep the air moving a bit. There is thread and lint on the floor, no matter how many times we sweep it up. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy lobby. You just walk in and we’re there working. The building is old and has that specific smell of old paper and dusty fabric. We’ve been here a long time, and we know most of the other shopkeepers on the street. It’s a loud and sometimes messy environment, but it is where we do our work. We focus on making the bags and getting them through the crowded streets to the buyers. It’s just how things have always been for us in Singhara Chowk.
