Ljawab Handicrafts

We are located right here at 1556, Darib Kalan, which if you know Chandni Chowk, you know it is always a bit of a squeeze. Ljawab Handicrafts is basically just us and a lot of items we've gathered over the years. The shop isn't very big and sometimes the boxes are stacked so high you can't see the back wall. It's quite dusty because of all the people walking by outside. We open up every morning and start by moving some of the stuff out onto the step just to make room to breathe. My father used to say the shop has its own personality, and I think he was right. It’s not fancy at all. The floor has some cracks and the paint is peeling in the corners where the damp gets in during the monsoon. We spend most of the day just talking to people who wander in. Some are looking for something specific, but others just want to hide from the sun for a minute. We don't really do anything fancy here. We just have our crafts and we try to keep things moving. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit mixed up, but we usually find what we need after a bit of searching. It’s just the way things are in this part of town. We’ve been here a long time and don't plan on going anywhere else soon.
