About Geeta International – Art & Craft in North Delhi
Getting to our place in Chawri Bazar is always an adventure because the lanes are so narrow and crowded. We are located in the Ravi Raj Market, specifically at 3564/28, which sounds easy to find on paper but is actually tucked away among a hundred other shops. The whole area smells like old paper and metal, and there’s a constant sound of rickshaw bells and people shouting. We spend most of our time in the shop surrounded by stacks of items that go all the way up to the ceiling. It’s not a very big space, so we have to be careful where we step. Usually, the morning starts with clearing the dust that settles overnight. Chawri Bazar never really sleeps, but we open up around ten. We don’t have a marketing team or anything like that. It’s mostly just us answering the phone and talking to people who walk in looking for specific parts. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there with a torch until it comes back. It’s just how things are in this part of Delhi. Lunch is usually something brought from home, eaten quickly on a corner of the desk. We’ve been in this market for years, and while the faces change, the work stays pretty much the same. It’s busy, it’s loud, and it’s home for us. We aren't looking to expand into some big corporation; we are just happy to be here doing what we do every day.
