You can find us at Eliza Purse House, Shop No. 6790, right on Beriwali Street in Ahata Kidara, Sadar Bazar. If you know Sadar Bazar, you know how crowded and loud it gets every single day. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with purses and bags of every kind you can think of. There isn’t much room to walk around inside, so we’ve gotten very good at stacking things safely. We spend most of the day unpacking new stock or showing different styles to people who squeeze into the shop space. It’s hot in the summer and the ceiling fans don’t always help much, but we stay busy and don't think about it. We’ve got everything from small wallets to big handbags for weddings. We aren't fancy; the floor is just plain stone and the shelves are wooden and a bit old now. People come to us because they know where we are and that we’ve been here for years. We deal with a lot of wholesalers and individuals who just want one bag. Sometimes the street gets so blocked with rickshaws and carts that we have to wait an hour for our deliveries to reach the door. We don't use a computer for every little thing. We still have a thick notebook where we write down what we sold and what we need to order. It’s a traditional way of doing things but it works for us. Dealing with customers all day can be tiring, especially when they want to see every bag on the shelf. It’s a lot of work.
