Chaabra International

Chaabra International is located at 53 Chandni Chowk. We are right opposite the McDonald's and near the old Kumar Cinema. Chandni Chowk is probably the busiest place you can find, and being across from a landmark like McDonald’s helps people find us among all the other signs and shops. Our building is old, with high ceilings and thick walls that keep it a little cooler than the street outside, though the humidity still gets in. We have rolls of cloth and stacks of boxes everywhere. There isn’t much of a lobby; you just walk in and you are right in the middle of everything. The sounds from the street are constant—the rickshaw bells, the shouting, the motorcycles. We’ve grown used to it over the years. We spend our days mostly handling stock and talking to people who come in from the main road. The Kumar Cinema isn't what it used to be, but it’s still a good point of reference. We don’t have any fancy mission or a polished corporate look. It’s just a shop in Old Delhi where we do our business. We have a small back room for keeping the books and taking a break. It's crowded, it's noisy, and it's dusty, but it’s home for us. We open the doors early and stay until the market starts to wind down in the evening. Most of the time, we are just busy counting things or talking to the neighbors.
