Shyam Tea Company

Our setup is at Sd-201 in the Tower Apartment complex over in Pitampura. It’s a bit different because we’re in a residential-style building, so it doesn't feel like those big cold offices in the city center. Shyam Tea Company is run from here, and it’s a fairly tight space once you get all the boxes and the computer equipment inside. We have to be careful about where we stack things so we don't block the hallway. Living and working in Pitampura means we’re close to the local markets, which is handy for getting things done quickly. The office has a bit of a homey feel, mostly because it used to be one. We have a small balcony where someone usually goes to take a break or have a smoke. The tea we handle comes from various places, and our job is to keep track of where it’s going next. It’s mostly just two or three of us here most days. We spend a lot of time on the phone with wholesalers and people looking for specific batches. Sometimes the neighbors in the apartment building complain if we have too many deliveries arriving at once, so we try to keep things quiet. It’s a humble way to run a business, but it suits us fine. We don’t need a big lobby or a receptionist to do what we do. It’s just about getting the tea out to the people who want it.
