If you head down to G T Karnal Road and find the SMA Co-operative Industrial Estate, that’s where you’ll see our unit at D 14. We’ve been operating Bharat Exports from this spot for a while now. It’s a real industrial area, so there’s always the sound of machines and big trucks backing up. Our warehouse is where we spend most of the day, checking on boxes and making sure everything is ready to go out. It can get pretty dusty inside, especially when we are moving a lot of stock around. My brother handles most of the phone calls while I stay on the floor to watch over the loading. We have a tiny office in the corner with two old desks and a lot of paper files stacked up. It isn't a fancy corporate office by any means. We drink a lot of tea from the stall nearby while we wait for the transporters to arrive. The traffic on G T Karnal Road is usually a nightmare, so we have to plan our timings very carefully or the trucks get stuck for hours. We deal with all sorts of goods and it’s a lot of manual labor, but it’s a steady business. We know the other owners in the estate, so we help each other out with local info. It’s a tough environment with the heat and the noise, but we’ve built a life here at D 14.
