The Tata Steel Co. Ltd.

The Tata Steel Co. Ltd. has this office in the Jeevan Tara Building on the 1st floor. It’s right there at 5, Sansad Marg. Being in this part of New Delhi is a bit different than being at a steel plant. It’s very central, and you can see all the government buildings nearby. The office itself is pretty standard. We have rows of desks and a lot of filing cabinets because steel involves more paperwork than you might think. We handle things like logistics, planning, and all the administrative stuff that keeps a big company like this moving. The hallways in Jeevan Tara are wide, and it has that older government-building feel to it. We get a lot of people coming in for meetings or to drop off documents. It’s a lot of typing and phone calls throughout the day. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is something we all look forward to. Even though we are far from the actual furnaces and the heavy noise of the mills, we still feel the weight of the business. We focus on the details and make sure the numbers add up. It’s a professional place but we keep it pretty relaxed among ourselves. We just want to get through the pile of work on our desks and make sure the steel gets to the customers without any problems.
