Patram Ispat Bhandar has been part of this market for years. We deal in ispat, which is basically steel for anyone who doesn't know the term. It’s a loud environment. You can hear the saws cutting through beams and the heavy trucks backing up. We don't have a quiet office with a view. Our view is just more stacks of steel and the dusty road outside. Dealing with the steel market means you have to be ready for prices to change every single day. We spend a lot of time tracking the market and talking to other traders in the Mandi. It’s a tough business and your hands are always dirty from the metal. We have a small cabin where we sit to do the billing and have our lunch. Sometimes the traffic in Naraina is so bad that it takes an hour just to get a truck out of the gate. But we like the energy of the place. It’s honest work, providing the materials that go into building the city’s infrastructure. We just keep our heads down and focus on the weight and the quality. It is a grind, but someone has to supply the iron.
