Jindal Steel Company is situated in Loha Mandi. Naraina is one of those places in Delhi where you smell grease and metal the moment you arrive. Our spot is at Y/16. It is basically a yard with some office space carved out. Trucks are the biggest headache here. They block the lane and then everyone starts shouting. We handle a lot of industrial steel. It is heavy work. The laborers have been with us for years, they know exactly how to stack things so they don't fall. You won't find any fancy carpets or soft lighting in our office. It is mostly metal desks and some old fans that make a lot of noise. We spend the morning checking the stock that came in overnight. Sometimes the rain makes everything a mess because the ground gets muddy. Then we have to wait for it to dry before moving the heavy plates. People from all over the city come here to pick up what they need for their projects. We don't do much talking besides what is necessary for the work. Business happens over small glasses of tea. It is a rough place but it is honest work. The sun hits the metal and it gets really hot in the afternoon. We just keep moving until the day is done and the gates are locked up tight for the night. This is how we have operated for years now.
