Ishita Ispat

Ishita Ispat is over at Z-178 in Loha Mandi. Now, if you’ve ever been to Loha Mandi, you know it’s a rough and tumble kind of place. It’s all about iron and steel here. There is dust everywhere and the sound of heavy metal hitting metal is basically the soundtrack to our day. We don’t have a fancy office; it’s more of a practical shed where we keep track of things. The yard is usually full of material waiting to be moved. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to truck drivers who are trying to navigate the narrow lanes of the market. It gets pretty chaotic during peak hours. The ground is uneven and you have to watch where you’re walking so you don't trip over a piece of scrap. We have a small table where we sit and have our lunch, usually with the sound of a crane working nearby. It’s a tough environment, but it’s what we know. We don't bother with corporate talk because nobody has time for that here. You say what you need to say and get back to work. The weather really affects us since a lot of the work is semi-outdoors. When it's hot, it's really hot. When it rains, everything gets muddy. But that’s just the nature of being in the iron trade at Loha Mandi. We’ve been at Z-178 for years.
