Our office is tucked away at J-40 in Jorbagh Lane. If you walk down this street, you'll notice it's quite a bit quieter than the rest of the city. Hind Pocket Books Pvt. Ltd. has been part of this neighborhood for a long time. The building itself has that older feel, not like those glass towers you see everywhere now. Inside, there are stacks of books and papers in almost every corner. We don't have a fancy reception desk or a polished lobby. It’s more of a place where people who actually like reading and making books hang out. Most days are spent looking at manuscripts or talking to printers. We've got bookshelves lining the walls that have seen better days, but they hold everything we need. The staff here mostly sticks to their own desks, but we gather for lunch and talk about what's going on in the lane. It’s a very grounded way to run a publishing house. Sometimes the courier guys get lost looking for the specific gate, but once they find us, they know where to go next time. We don't put on any airs. We just focus on getting the stories out into a format that fits in someone's pocket. It’s honest work, and being in Jorbagh makes the long hours feel a bit more peaceful. You won't find any corporate buzzwords here, just people working with paper and ink. The garden outside needs a bit of trimming, but it’s nice to look at every once in a while during a break.
