Our office is located at A-4 in Shankar Garden, which is part of the Vikas Puri area. It’s a typical Delhi neighborhood, very busy with cars and people everywhere. We’ve been here for quite some time now, doing the trading work that keeps us busy from morning until evening. The space isn’t very large, so it’s often filled to the ceiling with files and different product samples we’re currently handling. We don’t have a big fancy lobby or a receptionist to greet you. Usually, you’ll just find one of us on the phone trying to track down a shipment or negotiating a price with a supplier. Trading is a lot of back-and-forth communication. Sometimes it feels like we’re just moving papers around, but there’s a lot of coordination to make sure goods move from one place to another without getting stuck. We don’t use a lot of complicated jargon or business talk. We just tell it like it is. If a delivery is going to be late because of the traffic or a strike, we just say so. It’s a practical, everyday sort of business. We’ve built a lot of relationships over the years just by being around and doing the work. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and those are usually our only breaks. It’s not a polished lifestyle, but it’s what we know and what we do best every day.
