Our place is located at 10, 4 Double Story, which is right near the Kirpal Ashram. We spend most of our working hours washing plates and counting out thousands of spoons. Since we are a crockery rental business, things are always in motion. Large crates of dishes go out for weddings, religious functions, or big parties, and then they eventually come back to us quite dirty. We have a large washing area in the back that stays wet and soapy all day long. The metal shelves are filled to the ceiling with stacks of white plates and rows of glass tumblers. It is a bit tight moving around in here because there is so much stock crammed into the space. We have different patterns of plates, some that look very old-fashioned and some that are a bit more modern. The sound of clinking ceramic and metal is basically the soundtrack to our lives. Of course, things break quite often, which is just an expected part of the rental business. We keep a running tally on a beat-up clipboard near the door. It is a family-run kind of vibe here, and we know most of the local caterers by their first names. We don't have a front desk or a computer for bookings. You just walk in and tell us what you need for your event. We load up the trucks ourselves, which is hard work when the sun is out.
