Pretty Packings

At 101, Bharat Nagar, we spend the majority of our time surrounded by stacks of cardboard and rolls of tape. Pretty Packings is basically a large workspace where we figure out the best way to wrap things up for shipping. We have all sorts of boxes, from massive ones for machinery to tiny ones for jewelry. It is a bit of a mess sometimes with paper scraps all over the floor, but we try to sweep up before we lock the doors. The machines we use for cutting and folding make a constant thumping noise that you eventually get used to. Bharat Nagar is a busy, industrial-feeling area, and our shop is right in the thick of it. We help other local businesses get their products ready to be sent out to customers. Some people want very specific, fancy boxes, while others just need something cheap and sturdy. We don't have a marketing department or anyone in a suit. It is just us operating the machinery and double-checking the order counts. The smell of fresh paper and industrial glue is everywhere. I have been working here so long that I don't even notice the scent anymore. We keep things simple and direct. If a customer needs a few hundred boxes by the end of the week, we just put our heads down and get to work. The shelves are constantly being emptied and refilled. It is a good, hands-on way to make a living.
