Spices Board

Our office is over at J 54 in Lajpat Nagar 3. If you’ve been to Lajpat Nagar, you know it’s a very lively part of Delhi. The Spices Board has its space here, and it’s usually quite busy with people coming in and out. We deal with everything related to the spice trade from this location. It’s not a massive fancy office, just a functional space where we handle the administration and meetings. There’s often the faint smell of different spices in the air when people bring in samples. We spend a lot of time reviewing documents and talking to growers or exporters. The building itself is typical for this neighborhood. We have a small staff who have been around for a long time. We know the local tea seller and the guy who delivers the water bottles. It feels more like a community than a cold office building. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing and it gets a bit chaotic, but we just push through the stack of papers on our desks. We try to keep things moving so the spice industry stays on track. It’s a lot of checking lists and making sure the stamps are in the right places on the forms. We don't use a lot of big words or complicated systems; we just stick to what works for the day-to-day operations and try to get home before the market traffic gets too bad.
