It’s a tough environment with a lot of heavy lifting and physical labor. The yard is usually full of different types of metal, and we spend a lot of time organizing it so we can find exactly what a customer wants. We’ve been here at Y-226 for some time now. The market is always loud with the sound of metal hitting metal and trucks backing up in the narrow lanes. We don't have a carpeted office or air conditioning in the main work area. It’s just a place of work. We get to the Mandi early in the morning to beat the worst of the traffic that clogs up the roads later. Most of our customers are builders or other traders who need specific sizes of steel for their projects. We try to be honest about what we have in stock at any given time. Sometimes we run out of certain items and have to wait for a new load to come in from the suppliers. It’s a simple business model. We buy steel and then we sell it. There’s a lot of dust and grease involved, but that’s just part of the trade. We know the other folks in the market well and sometimes we help each other out. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, without any modern corporate fluff.
