Dhoomi Lal Art Gallery

Being located at 8-A in Connaught Place means we see a lot of people walking past every single day. It’s a busy circle and things are always moving fast outside our windows. Inside, it’s a bit different. We’ve got the walls covered with all sorts of pieces we’ve collected over the time we’ve been here. Some days it’s quiet and we just spend time cleaning the frames or rearranging the lights so everything looks okay. We aren't really about the big fancy openings or anything. It's more about having a space where the art can just sit and people can look if they want to. The floor creaks a little in one corner, and the air conditioner makes a bit of noise, but it works well enough. We've seen shops come and go around us in CP, but we’re still here doing what we do. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything, especially when new things arrive and we have to find space for them. We usually have a pot of tea going in the back room. If someone walks in, we say hello, but we don't follow them around. We figure people like to look at their own pace without someone breathing down their neck. It’s just a regular gallery run by people who like being around these things. We stay open late enough for the evening crowd.
