Canadian High Commission

The Canadian High Commission is located at 7/8 Shantipath in Chanakyapuri. This is a very different part of the city compared to where most businesses are. The roads are wide and there are trees everywhere, which makes it feel a bit more peaceful. However, at the gates, it’s always busy with people coming for visas or help with documents. We spend a lot of time checking IDs and looking through stacks of forms. It’s a big compound and there is a lot of security, which is just the way it has to be. The staff here come from all over, and we all have our own small offices or desks within the main building. There is always someone walking down the hallways with a folder in their hand. It’s a very formal-looking place from the outside, but inside we are just regular people doing our jobs. We deal with a lot of paperwork every single day, and sometimes it feels like it never ends. The gardens are nice to look at during a lunch break, though we don't always have time for that. It’s a lot of responsibility working at 7/8 Shantipath, but we just take it one day at a time. We don't really do any promotion or advertising because people know where to find us when they need us. It’s just a steady stream of visitors and a lot of typing. We keep the gate logs very carefully every single day.
