Anaemica Art Centre

You can find us at the Anaemica Art Centre on School Lane in Bengali Market. We are just across from the Inter Continental Hotel, but it feels like a different world on our street. It’s a bit quieter here. Our shop is where we do all the framing work and keep some of the local art we’ve collected. It isn't a big, bright gallery with white walls. It’s a bit cluttered, to be honest. We have stacks of wooden moldings in every corner and the smell of sawdust is always around. We’ve been here for years, and the shop has a lot of history. My family has always been into art, so this felt like the right thing to do. We spend our days measuring glass and cutting mats for people who bring in everything from old photos to expensive paintings. We don't have a fancy way of talking about what we do. We just try to make the frames straight and the glass clean. Sometimes the shop gets so full of projects that we can hardly move around. We have a few regular customers who come by just to chat and look at what’s new. We don't do any advertising. People just find us by walking through the market area. It’s a small, honest business, and we like it that way. We aren't trying to be famous, just a place that does good work and helps people display their memories.
