Working with metal is loud and messy, especially here on Mansingh Road. Our shop is at G-2 in Yadav Nagar, and you can usually hear the noise of the machines before you actually see the sign. There is always the sound of grinding metal or the constant hum of the welding machine going in the background. We have been in this spot for a while now, surrounded by stacks of iron rods and flat metal sheets that we need to cut down to size. It gets very hot inside during the afternoons, so we usually keep the big front shutter rolled all the way up to get a breeze. The floor is covered in tiny metal shavings no matter how many times we try to sweep it up with the old broom. We do a lot of basic stuff like making gates, window grills, and simple frames for the people living in the neighborhood. It’s definitely not a clean office job. Our hands stay stained with grease and soot, and we go through a lot of thick work gloves every month. Sometimes a customer brings in a rough drawing on a piece of scrap paper and we try our best to make it look like what they want. It’s heavy work and it really tires you out by the time the sun goes down. We don't have a fancy showroom or a salesman. Just the tools, some raw steel, and the space we have here in Yadav Nagar.
