Aasif Steel

Aasif Steel is based in Lakshmi Nagar, right over at G-34, Vijay Chowk. We are tucked away behind the Walia Nursing Home, which is actually a pretty good landmark because everyone in the area knows where it is. It is a bit of a tight squeeze back here with all the steel rods and sheets lying around the yard. The noise of metal hitting metal is basically what we hear all day long. My hands are usually covered in some kind of grey dust or grease, and it never really seems to wash off completely. We spend a lot of our time moving heavy pipes from one side of the space to the other. It is physical work, and by the afternoon, we are all feeling pretty tired. The heat stays trapped between the buildings, so we end up drinking a lot of water to keep going. Sometimes we have to move our trucks around just to let another vehicle pass through the lane. We do not have a big fancy office, just a small corner with a table and a heavy ledger book for writing down orders. People come by looking for specific sizes, and we go out back to see what is left in the stacks. Sometimes we have what they need, and sometimes we don't. It is just the way it goes here in the market. We have been doing this for years now.
