Siddhi Engineering Works

We are out at Plot No. C-10/1 in Gala No. 35 within the NICE area. It’s an industrial spot, so there is always the sound of metal hitting metal and the hum of big machines running. Our unit is just one of many in the row, and you can usually find us by the stack of iron pipes outside the door. We spend the day covered in a bit of grease and metal filings. It’s loud in the gala, so we have to shout a bit to hear each other over the grinders. We’ve been doing this engineering work for a long time, mostly just fixing parts or making small components for people who stop by. The floor is concrete and has seen better days, stained with oil from the old lathes we use. We have a small corner with a table where we keep the blue prints and a heavy stapler. Lunch is usually brought from home in steel tiffins, and we eat while sitting on the tool crates. It’s not a place for someone who likes to stay clean. By the end of the shift, our hands are pretty black from the work. We like the NICE area because everything we need is close by, and the other shops always have a spare bolt or a tool we can borrow. It’s just a regular engineering shop where we put in the hours and try to keep the machines running smooth.
