Out here in Kingaon, which is in the Georai taluka of Beed district, life moves at its own pace. We are based at Umesh Ramnath’s place, and Kingaon Agro is basically just the local farmers joining forces. We all know that the land in Beed can be tough to work with, and the sun out here is often brutal. We started this company because trying to do everything as an individual was just getting to be too much of a struggle. We don't have a big office building with signs. We just meet at the house and talk through what needs to be done for the season. Whether we are dealing with cotton or different types of grain, we try to figure out the best way to get something out of our soil. Everyone in the village knows Umesh, so his house was the natural place for us to set things up. We don't have any polished speeches or marketing tricks to show off. We just talk to each other like we always have, mostly about the price of seeds and when the next trucks are expected. Sometimes we just sit out front and watch the dust settle on the road while we plan for the coming week. It’s about helping the small farmers in Kingaon keep their heads above water. The paperwork is always a headache, so we share that load. We're just regular people with a lot of work to do and a simple way of living.
