We are Oaks Hotels and Resorts Private Limited, and you can find us near Dhoopchaur in the Bhaktura area of Bhimtal. We’re set up at Joonstate, basically working out of Ekta Agarwal’s place. Bhimtal is a beautiful spot, but running a business here means dealing with steep roads and the occasional heavy fog that stops everything. We aren't a massive hotel group with hundreds of employees. It’s just a few of us making sure the place stays running. We spend a lot of time outside, checking on the property and making sure the water tanks are full. The air is fresh up here, which is nice, but the winters get really cold and we have to make sure the heaters are working right. We don't have a corporate handbook or anything like that. We just talk to each other and get things done. If a guest has a problem, they just come find us in the kitchen or the small office area. It’s a very local way of doing things. We’ve lived in this region for a long time, so we’re used to the quirks of the hills. Sometimes the delivery trucks have trouble getting up the narrow lanes, so we end up carrying supplies ourselves. It’s just part of the day. We’re not trying to impress anyone with fancy talk. We just provide a place to stay in a quiet corner of Bhimtal.
