The air up here in Mallital is different than in the plains. We are situated in this part of the hills where the roads can be a bit steep. Managing Hotel Arif Castles involves a lot of walking up and down. The name sounds like something out of a book, but we are just a regular place where people stay when they visit the area. Most of our day is spent checking the water tanks and making sure the rooms are aired out. The weather changes fast here. One minute it is sunny and the next the mist rolls in. We have a small staff and most of us grew up around these hills. We spend a lot of time talking to guests about where to walk and which paths are too slippery. It is not a fancy corporate setup. We have old keys and the floors are made of stone that gets cold in the winter. Sometimes the electricity goes out when the wind is too strong. We just fix what needs fixing and wait for the sun to come up. It is a quiet life for the most part. We don't do much advertising. People usually find us because they are looking for a spot in Mallital that doesn't feel like a big city hotel. We just keep the place running as best as we can.
