Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam

Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam has its office at Oak Park House in Mallital. We are tucked away near the High Court area in Nainital. This building has a lot of character, though it shows its age in some spots. We manage many different things across the region from this one office. It gets quite busy with paperwork and people coming in to ask about guesthouses or tours. Since we are near the court, the area is usually full of lawyers and officials. It is a bit quieter than the main Mall Road, which is nice sometimes. We have a staff that has worked here for a long time. They know the geography of Kumaon like the back of their hands. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at old maps. It’s not a shiny corporate office. There are stacks of files and wooden chairs that have been here for decades. When the winter comes, we huddle around heaters because the old stone walls get very cold. We just try to keep things moving for the people visiting the hills. Usually, folks come in looking for a place to stay or a bus schedule. We give them the information we have. It is a steady, slow-paced kind of life here. We just do the work that needs doing every day without making a big fuss about it.
