Dronavellay Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our office is over in Rudrapur, which is part of the Vikasnagar area in Dehradun. We operate out of Ravinder Singh Horraw’s place. Dronavellay is the name we chose because it reminds us of our home here in the valley. Most of what we do involves getting the local farmers to work together so they can manage their crops and livestock production a bit better. It is not a very exciting job most of the time. We spend many hours sitting around a plain wooden table, going through lists of different crops and trying to work out the best timing for the harvest. The traffic in the Dehradun area can be quite a headache, so we usually try to get our transport and deliveries finished early in the morning before the roads get blocked. The building we use is very basic, just a standard local house with some extra storage room in the back for supplies. We don't have any flashy slogans or big ads in the newspaper. Most people just find out about us by word of mouth or by seeing our small sign when they walk past. It involves a lot of manual record-keeping, tracking who grew what and where it needs to go next. Sometimes the electricity goes out for hours and we have to finish all our work by candlelight, but we are used to that. We are just happy to be working here.
