Babji Steel Centre

Babji Steel Centre is tucked away in Qazi Mohalla, right beside the Nagar Palika building. If it’s a Wednesday, the Lohani Budhwari Bazar is in full swing and the whole area is packed with people and stalls. Our shop is where we keep all kinds of steel items. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, to be honest. We move steel plates, rods, and household items all day long. The air always has that metallic smell to it that sticks to your skin. We don't have a fancy storefront with glass windows. It’s more of an open-air setup where the stock is piled up according to size and weight. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and most of the locals know they can just drop by when they’re building something or need a replacement for the kitchen. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard over the noise of the market outside. It gets pretty hot under the tin roof in the afternoons, so we take our breaks when we can. We don't use any complicated computer systems for our inventory. Most of it is kept in a ledger or just in our heads. We’re just a regular business doing regular things. People appreciate that we don't try to oversell them on things they don't need. If we have it, we’ll sell it to you for a fair price. That’s the way we’ve always done it here in the mohalla. It works for us and it works for them.
