St Thomas High School has been a part of Vishweshwara Nagar for a while now. Being here in Mysore, things are usually a bit quiet compared to the bigger cities, but our school stays busy. Every morning, the gates open and the kids start trickling in from the nearby streets. Some come on bicycles, others are dropped off by their parents on their way to work. The building itself is straightforward, with rows of classrooms and a main office where most of the paperwork happens. We have a playground that gets a lot of use, especially when the weather is nice. The teachers here focus on the daily lessons, making sure the kids understand what’s in the textbooks. It’s a lot of work, keeping track of so many students and their grades. We have our fair share of busy days, especially when there’s a sports meet or some local event going on. The staff room is usually full of half-drunk tea cups and piles of assignments waiting to be marked. We don’t do anything too flashy, just the usual school stuff like morning prayers and afternoon lessons. It’s interesting to see how much the kids change from when they first join us to when they finally leave for college. Living and working in Mysore has its own pace, and our school fits right into that. We’re just here doing our job every day, helping the kids learn their subjects. It’s a lot of routine, but we like it.
