Mishkat Montessori School

You can find us at number 263 on the 2nd Main road in Rajivnagar, Mysore. We are in the 2nd Stage of the neighborhood. It is a quieter part of the city, which is good for a Montessori school. The building is more like a converted house than a traditional school building, so it feels a bit more personal for the children. We have the different rooms set up with all the Montessori materials on low shelves so the children can reach them easily. There is a small garden area in the front where we let the kids play and look at the plants when the weather is nice. Since it is Mysore, the weather is usually pleasant, but we do get some heavy rains that make the garden a bit soggy for a few days. We spend our mornings watching the children work with the blocks and the puzzles. It is a very different atmosphere from a regular school, much quieter and more focused on individual tasks. The office is just a small room near the front door where we keep the files and take calls from parents. We do not have a big staff, just a few of us who look after the children and keep the place running. The neighbors are used to seeing the parents drop off their toddlers. It is a simple, steady life.
