Our school is located on Ramanuja Road in KR Mohalla, spread across plots 11, 12, and 13. It’s a very central part of Mysore, so there is always a lot of movement outside our gates. Since this is a place for women’s studies, we try to keep the environment inside fairly calm, though the city noise from the road definitely makes its way in. The buildings are straightforward and functional, without any of that modern glass and steel stuff you see in the newer parts of town. We have been in this neighborhood for a while, and the local shopkeepers all know when our classes let out because the street gets crowded with students. The management and science labs are basic but they have what is needed for the day’s work. Sometimes the fans are a bit noisy, and the stairs are a bit steep, but nobody really minds much. It’s just a normal part of the day here. We spend a lot of time organizing the registers and making sure the classrooms are swept. The sun shines quite brightly on Ramanuja Road in the afternoons, making the front of the building quite warm. People walk in and out all day asking for information or dropping off paperwork. It isn't a high-pressure corporate office; it’s just a place where people come to study and get through their degrees in a sensible, down-to-earth way. We focus on the books and the lessons, keeping things simple.
