Big Bowl

Down on Ashrama Road in Jayalakshmipuram, you will find Big Bowl at number 42. We are situated right opposite the Green Leaf Hotel. It’s a relatively quiet street compared to the main highways, which we kind of like. We focus on serving food in bowls, hence the name, though we don't make a big deal out of it. It’s just a practical way to eat. The space isn't huge, but it's enough for the locals who drop in. We get a lot of people who live right here in Mysore and want something different from the usual. We don't have a corporate office or a big manager. It's just the staff here making sure the ingredients are fresh and the place is open on time. Sometimes we run out of a certain dish because we only make a certain amount each day to keep things simple. We aren't trying to impress anyone with fancy words. We just want to serve a meal that fills you up. The neighborhood is nice and we’ve gotten to know the people who live around Ashrama Road. It feels like a small community. We keep things pretty low-key and just focus on the daily routine of running a small restaurant in Jayalakshmipuram. It’s not much, but it’s our way of contributing to the local area and keeping busy.
