Mysore Dasaprakash has its home right in Gandhi Square. This spot in Mysore, 570001, has a lot of history and we have been part of it for a long time. The building is old and it has a certain feel to it that you don’t find in the newer malls. We haven't changed much over the years. The chairs and tables are the same ones we’ve used for a while. We think it’s better that way. People come here because they know what they are getting. We don’t have a big menu with hundreds of items. We just do the traditional south Indian dishes that everyone in Mysore grew up with. The morning starts with the smell of fresh coffee and the sound of the metal shutters being rolled up. Our waiters are mostly older men who have worked here for decades. They don't move as fast as the young kids, but they know exactly how to handle a busy Sunday morning. Sometimes the place gets very crowded and you might have to wait a bit for a seat. We don’t have a fancy booking system. You just show up and wait your turn. The windows look out onto the square, so you can watch the buses and the people while you eat. We don't do any promotional stuff. Word of mouth has always been enough for us. It’s just a local business doing its thing. We will probably be here for many more years.
