Harish Restaurant

Our restaurant is located in the Sundar Orchid Complex on B N Road in Mysore. If you stand at the entrance, you can see the Suburban Bus Stand right across the street. Because of the bus stand, there are always crowds of people walking by. Some are in a big hurry to catch their bus, and others are just hanging around waiting. We open up early because that’s when the first buses start arriving. The complex itself has a few other shops, but we are right there on the ground level mostly. Inside, it’s just rows of tables and the smell of spices and coffee. We have a lot of regular staff who have been here for years. They know where everything is kept, even in the dark. The kitchen can get pretty loud during the lunch hour when everyone is hungry at once. We don’t have fancy decorations, just some plain paint on the walls and good lighting. Sometimes the water supply is a bit slow, or we have to wait for the vegetable delivery to show up in the morning. It’s a simple life running a restaurant in Mysore. You meet all kinds of people, from tourists going to the palace to locals just going to work. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place running and making sure the floor stays clean with all the feet coming in.
