Yusuf Enterprises, Mumbai

Down here on Narayan Dhuru Street, things never really stop moving. Our shop, Yusuf Enterprises, is on the ground floor of Rama Mansion, specifically Shop 154. Being in Masjid West means we are surrounded by the constant noise of the market and people hauling goods back and forth. It’s an old building, but it has character and everyone around here knows everyone else. We deal with various items, mostly things people need for their daily trade or construction work. The space is a bit tight because we try to keep as much stock as possible on hand. We open up pretty early to beat the main rush, though the street is already alive before the sun is fully up. You’ll find us sitting among boxes and registers, just getting through the orders that come in. It’s a lot of manual work, moving things around and making sure the right items go to the right person. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that; it’s just us doing the work day in and day out. Some days are slower than others, which gives us a chance to reorganize the shelves, but mostly it’s quite hectic. If you are walking down from the station, you just head towards the mansion and you'll find us there. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the way we do business stays pretty much the same.
