Yummies Snacks Bar

If you walk down R C Dutt Road near Shantiniketan, you’ll find us at 36 A. Yummies Snacks Bar has been our daily life for years. It started small and it stayed pretty much the same size, which is fine by us. The kitchen is cramped, especially when we are frying things or making tea for a large group of people. People stop by when they’re tired of walking or just need a quick bite before heading to the office. We don’t do any of that fancy plating you see in magazines. It’s just simple snacks served on regular plates. Sometimes we run out of things by four in the afternoon because the lunchtime rush was bigger than we expected. The fan in the corner makes a bit of a clicking sound, but it keeps the air moving. My brother manages the accounts while I handle the cooking and talking to the customers. We’ve seen the road change quite a bit, with new buildings going up and old shops closing down. We are still here, though. We try to keep things clean and the food hot. It’s nothing more than a local snack bar where you can sit for a few minutes and take a break from the noise outside. We like the regulars who tell us stories about their day while they wait. It keeps the job from feeling too much like repetitive work every single day.
