Wilson Handloom

Wilson Handloom is based in Masjid Bunder West, specifically inside the Raj Ratna Industrial building on Bj Patel Road. The address is 115/117. This area is known for being one of the busiest trading hubs in Mumbai. There is always a lot of heavy lifting going on and the streets are crowded with handcarts and delivery vans. Our space inside the industrial block is dedicated to our handloom products. It is a large, open room with high windows that let in a bit of light, but it stays fairly cool because of the thick walls. We have long wooden tables where we inspect the fabrics and get them ready for our customers. It isn't a retail shop with mannequins or bright lights. It is a place of work. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long, from the shouting of the loaders to the rumbling of the big trucks. We have a small team here and we all know each other well. We keep our records in big ledgers and don't rely much on computers. It’s a very traditional way of doing things, but it works for us. Bj Patel Road is a tough place to navigate, but we have been here so long it feels like home. We take a break for lunch when the sun is highest and then get back to the stacks of cloth waiting for us.
