Our workplace is at 5/5 Sahyadri Nagar, which is in the Charkop area of Kandiwali West. It is a bit of a maze to find us if you aren't from around here. The building is part of a cluster of similar structures, and we are tucked away on the ground level. We have been in this spot for several years now. Inside, there is usually a lot of stuff lying around—fabrics, threads, and whatever else we are working on at the moment. It’s not the most organized place, but we know where everything is, mostly. The sound of the machines is pretty constant throughout the day. We have a small fan that wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving. Mumbai-400067 can get very hot, especially in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy work done early. We aren't a big factory or anything, just a small group of us working in a tight space. We often eat our lunch together at the main table after clearing off the workspace. The neighbors are mostly families, so you hear kids playing outside or someone’s TV through the walls. It’s a very local feel. We don’t have a big sign outside, just a small one by the door. We just focus on getting the pieces finished and sent out to whoever ordered them. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy.
