Viren Dance Institute

Our dance space is located right near the Railway Officers Club in Badhwar, specifically down Hanuman Lane No 31 in Cuffe Parade. It’s not a massive studio like you see in movies. It’s a place where kids and adults from around the neighborhood come to move a bit. Viren Dance Institute has been operating out of this spot for some time now. You can usually hear the music echoing out into the lane when a class is in session. The floor has some scuff marks from all the shoes, and the mirrors always need a good wipe down after a humid Mumbai day. We spend a lot of time just organizing the batches and making sure there’s enough room for everyone to stretch without hitting a wall. It gets a bit crowded on Saturday mornings when the younger kids arrive. Parents usually wait outside or chat near the entrance. It’s a simple setup. We have a few fans going to keep the air moving, though it still gets sweaty inside. The Railway Officers Club nearby is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just teaching steps and keeping time. Sometimes the music is too loud and we have to turn it down a notch. Life in Cuffe Parade is busy, so we try to keep things relaxed inside the studio. It’s just a place to dance and forget about the traffic outside for an hour or so.
