If you walk out of the Santacruz West railway station, you basically run right into us at number 49. Sruthi Music Academy is right there where all the noise is. You can hear the trains pulling in and the announcements on the platform while someone is trying to learn a scale inside. It’s not the quietest place for a music school, but it’s convenient for everyone coming from work or school. We have a few rooms partitioned off where the teaching happens. The walls are covered with some old posters and some charts that have been there for years. It’s not a shiny new studio, just a place where people come to practice. We have all sorts of instruments lying around, some in cases and some just leaning against the chairs. Most of the time, the hallway is narrow and you have to squeeze past someone carrying a guitar case. The air conditioner works most of the days, but when it’s really humid, it struggles a bit. We don't have a big marketing team or anything. People just see the sign when they get off the train and walk up the stairs to ask about classes. We teach whoever shows up, whether they are kids or older folks who finally have time for a hobby. It gets busy in the evenings when the commute is at its peak. We just keep the doors open and let the music mix with the station sounds.
