Kongu Bharathanatyam School

Our school is located in the Rudraksh Building on Link Road in Borivali West. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always noise from the traffic outside. We have a space here where we do all our dance practice. It’s not one of those modern studios with glass walls and air conditioning throughout. It’s a pretty simple room with a wooden floor that has seen a lot of feet over the years. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building is familiar to most people in the neighborhood. We don’t have a big staff; it’s mostly just us handling the classes and the registrations. You’ll usually see some bags and shoes near the entrance because we don’t have a lot of storage space. We keep the music going most of the afternoon and evening. Sometimes it gets a bit hot in there when the classes are full, so we just open the windows and keep the fans on high. It’s a very down-to-earth place. We don’t use any marketing jargon or try to look bigger than we are. It’s just a room in a building where we teach dance. People drop in to ask about the timings, and we just give them the schedule on a piece of paper. It’s a local operation, and we like it that way. Most of the parents just wait on the benches we have in the hallway while the kids practice.
