Vidya V Panicker is based right in the heart of Dharavi. If you have ever walked through the lanes here, you know it is a place that never really sleeps. There is always someone doing something, whether it is making things or moving boxes. Our setup is very modest. We don't have a big corporate office with a lobby. It is just a practical space where we handle our daily business. Living and working in Dharavi teaches you how to be resourceful. We don't waste anything and we make the most of the small space we have. The neighborhood is tight-knit, so we know most of the people on our street. It is not always easy, especially when the monsoon hits and the streets get a bit flooded, but we stay open and keep working regardless. We don't have a marketing team or any fancy brochures to show off. We just tell people who we are and what we do if they ask. The atmosphere is loud and energetic, which keeps us going. Sometimes we sit outside for a bit to catch a breeze when it gets too hot inside. It is a very human way to run a business. We are not trying to impress anyone with big words or polished stories. We are just Vidya V Panicker, doing our bit in this busy part of the city. It’s honest work and we are glad to be here.
