Urbano Arq

Urbano Arq is located at Plot No 23 on Kherwadi Road in Bandra East. We are right near the Ram Mandir. Bandra East is a different world compared to the West side; it is more about the daily hustle and the old neighborhoods. Our office is right in the thick of it. It is not some glass tower in BKC. We work out of a regular building where you can hear the street noise all day long. We do a lot of work on local buildings and interior spaces. Architecture in Mumbai is mostly about solving problems with very limited space and old structures. I spend most of my time trying to figure out how to make a plan work within the local rules. We have a lot of samples lying around the office, like wood, stone, and different laminates. It is a messy process sometimes. People from the neighborhood often stop by just to ask a quick question about a repair or a new build they are thinking about. We do not have a receptionist to filter calls; we just pick up the phone ourselves. Kherwadi Road is always busy, especially being so close to the highway and the station. It keeps us grounded in the reality of the city. We are not trying to change the world, just trying to make sure the buildings we work on are solid and the interiors look right. It is hard work, but we really enjoy the pace of being in Bandra East. We just keep doing our thing every day.
