Universal Book Corporation

You can find Universal Book Corporation right on Kalbadevi Road, directly across from Metro Dhobi Talao. It is number 546 on the street. We have been here for quite some time now, watching the city change around us. The street outside is always loud and there are people everywhere at all hours, which is just part of being in this busy part of town. Inside the shop, it’s mostly just stacks of books and wooden shelves reaching up high toward the ceiling. We deal with all sorts of titles, from textbooks to old novels. Some days it is quiet and other days we can barely move for all the boxes coming in from the suppliers. It is a bit cramped, but that’s how bookshops usually end up looking after they have been around for a few years. We try to keep things in some kind of order, though it honestly doesn't always stay that way for long once the customers start browsing. If you know the area near the old cinema, you probably know exactly where we are. We just open the doors in the morning and see who comes in looking for what. It isn't a modern, shiny place like the ones in the malls. It’s got a lot of dust and that heavy smell of old paper, which some people seem to like. We just sell books to whoever needs them and don't make a big fuss about it. Most of our regulars are local folks.
