Academic Book House

If you go down Dr. Ambedkar Road in Matunga, you will find us near Ruia College at No. 11 Nirmala Niwas. We have stacks of books everywhere you look. It is a bit cramped in here, to be honest. Students are always coming in asking for some specific textbook or a set of notes. We try to keep things organized, but books have a way of piling up in corners. I remember when we first set up shop here; the street looked a lot different then. Now, it is always busy with students and traffic. We don't have those fancy coffee machines or couches like the big stores do. It’s just rows of shelves and the smell of paper. Sometimes we have to dig through a whole pile just to find one copy of an old edition. It can be exhausting, but seeing a student find what they need makes it okay. We aren't much for fancy displays either. If it fits on the shelf, it goes on the shelf. The building itself is an older one, which gives the place some character, I guess. We stay open pretty late during exam season because that is when everyone is in a hurry. It’s a lot of manual work, carrying heavy boxes and labeling everything. We’ve been doing it this way for years and see no reason to change much. It is just us and our books.
